The Story of What Happened...
On Thursday afternoon, Paul and Elaine were returning from Traverse City, MI. Elaine stopped the car at an intersection on US 31 waiting for the car in front of her to turn left. The car behind didn’t see them stopped and in trying to avoid them at the last minute, clipped their bumper pushing them into oncoming traffic. A car hit the passenger side (where Paul was snoozing) at full speed. They were both taken by ambulance to Munson Hospital in Traverse City but Paul had already gone to be with Jesus by the time they arrived. Elaine was treated in the ER and moved to the ICU for internal injuries including broken ribs and a lacerated liver. She is in stable condition and is planning to be moved to a regular room on Saturday, possibly returning home on Monday.

Elaine, Sarah, Dan, Elizabeth, and David:
I am so sorry to hear of Paul's Death. I remember him and your entire family with great fondness from my years of service on crew in the 1980's. Paul is a dear and a great man with a kind servant's heart. I sincerly wish Laura and I could be there to celebrate his life with you on Saturday! You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We praise God that Paul is with the Father and the Son now...but we hurt for you all. If there is anything we can do to support you, please do not hesitate to call on us.

I worked with Paul at Shoreline, assisting him in teaching the A++ class to the various students from Manistee, Brethren, Bear Lake and Onekama High Schools in 2005-2006.
Paul was a great mentor and teacher.
More teachers with a strong moral foundation and the ability to pass on a strong work ethic are needed in this world. I find myself fortunate for having my life enriched by Paul.
My husband and I visited Paul and Elaine in their home for pancakes with fresh maple syrup tapped from their trees. It is among my memories of Paul which will stay with me always.
Thank you!!
